User Management feature allows you to add team members to your Semrush account so they can access the tools and data they need. By default, a Semrush subscription allows one email address to be logged in at a time. Adding users lets multiple people access Semrush simultaneously, each with their own login credentials.
Here’s everything you can do when you add users to your account:
- Share your subscription with team members who get their own login credentials
- Control how subscription units are distributed—assign individual units to each user or let everyone share from a common pool
- Keep your account secure with separate logins for each team member
- Grant access to specific folders and collaborate together
- Add notes to graphs that are visible to your teammates
- Give users personalized dashboards so they see only what's relevant to them
- Monitor team activity by viewing their folders, limit usage, and search history
- Assign admins to help manage users and distribute limits
Types of Roles
There are four user roles in Semrush, each with different permissions and capabilities.
Owner
The owner is the person who created the Semrush account and pays for the subscription. There's only one owner per account.
What owners can do:
- Add and remove users
- Manage how subscription units are distributed
- View and manage all folders created by any user
- Appoint users as admins
- Access all user management features
User
A user is someone added to your Semrush account with their own login, password, dashboard, and folders. Users share the subscription limits of the main account, so they don't need their own separate subscription.
What users can do:
- Access all toolkits included in the subscription (except Traffic & Market Toolkit, AI SEO Toolkit, and certain App Center apps, which require separate purchases)
- Create and manage their own folders
Admin
Admins are users who've been given additional management permissions by the owner. They help manage the account and other users.
What admins can do:
- Add and remove users
- Choose how subscription limits are distributed (individual allocation vs. shared pool)
- Edit the limits allocated to each user
- View, edit, delete, and share all folders created by any user
- Change folder ownership
- View the search queries made by all users
- See a history of changes made to the account
Guest
Guests are people outside your account who you've given access to specific Semrush assets—like folders, documents, or keyword lists.
In the “User management” settings, you can see all the people you've shared Semrush assets with and how many assets each person has access to. From here, you can convert guests into full users by clicking "Invite to team."
If a guest has a "Restricted" access, they need their own subscription to view your shared assets.
Restricted guests will get access when you add them to your account as users. You can buy additional users in the User Management section of your account or right on the page where you see your Guest List.

How to Add Users to Your Account
You can add new users to your account by purchasing additional user seats.
By default, all Semrush plans come with one user seat. To add more users, go to your User Management page and click "Buy more" next to User count in the top left corner.
Alternatively, contact Semrush to have an Account Executive help you set up additional users.
Anyone on the account—the owner, admins, or current users—can purchase additional user seats. The owner's payment method is charged for all purchases.
After purchasing additional user seats, invite team members to your account. To do so, navigate to the “User Management” page from the sidebar and click “Invite users.” Enter the email address your team member will use for their Semrush login.
The invitation goes via an email. They need to accept the invitation to join your account.
What happens next:
- If they have a free Semrush account: They'll receive an email inviting them to join your subscription
- If they don't have a Semrush account: A new account is created for them, and they receive login information via email
Once you invite your teammates, the shared limits setting applies by default. This lets your team use the overall subscription limits as needed. You can switch to individual limits anytime to assign specific amounts to each user. Learn more in our guide on how units work in a team.
How Much Do Additional Users Cost?
The cost of each additional user depends on which toolkits are included in your subscription.
Each added user will have access to all toolkits included in your subscription, except for the Traffic & Market Toolkit, the AI SEO Toolkit, and App Center, which must be purchased separately for additional users.

Understand Subscription Limits
All users on your account share the subscription limits that come with your plan. Consider this when choosing your subscription tier—make sure there are enough limits to support the number of users you plan to add.
For example, if your plan includes 10,000 reports per month and you have 5 users, those 10,000 reports are shared across all 5 people.

How to Make a User an Admin?
Go to User Management and click the edit button on that user's row. From there, you can change their role from User to Admin and adjust their limit allocation if needed.
Click “Save” to save the changes.
How to Delete Users And Remove Additional Seat?
Go to the User Management page and click the delete button next to their name. This removes their email from your users list and frees up that seat for someone else. It doesn't remove the additional user seat from your subscription.
To remove additional user seats from your subscription, contact Semrush customer support. Once removed, the seat will disappear from your User Management section.
Why Can’t I Accept an Invitation?
You can't accept invitations while you have your own paid plan. The team invitations can't override existing paid subscriptions. As a result, you’ll see a "Something went wrong" notification when accepting an invitation.
This restriction doesn't apply if you're on a free trial or already invited to another team subscription.

The Traffic & Market Toolkit costs $289 per user. However, this isn't the only cost—you also need to pay the base price for adding that user to your account.
How it works:
First, you pay the standard user addition fee, which depends on your current subscription:
- If you have SEO Toolkit Pro: $45 per user
- If you have SEO Toolkit Guru: $80 per user
- If you have SEO Toolkit Business: $100 per user
- If you don't have SEO Toolkit: $20 per user
Then, you add the Traffic & Market Toolkit cost of $289.
Total cost examples:
- SEO Toolkit Pro: $45 (base user) + $289 (Traffic & Market) = $334 total
- SEO Toolkit Guru: $80 (base user) + $289 (Traffic & Market) = $369 total

The AI SEO Toolkit costs $99 per user, per domain. Like the Traffic & Market Toolkit, this is in addition to the base cost of adding a user to your account.
How it works:
First, you pay the standard user addition fee based on your subscription:
- If you have SEO Toolkit Pro: $45 per user
- If you have SEO Toolkit Guru: $80 per user
- If you have SEO Toolkit Business: $100 per user
- If you don't have SEO Toolkit: $20 per user
Then, you add the AI SEO Toolkit cost of $99.
